The InterExchange Work & Travel USA program is one of the best ways to discover what it’s like to live, work, and travel in the U.S. With the chance to work for up to 4 months, and travel for an additional month, you’ll have enough time to make friends, improve your English skills, and experience American culture in person.
What you’ll earn on the program
All InterExchange Work & Travel USA students are covered by basic minimum wage laws and overtime as it applies from state to state. As of July 24, 2009 the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) minimum wage was set at $7.25 per hour. Where state or local law requires a higher minimum wage, the higher standard applies. You’ll be responsible for costs such as rent, food, entertainment, and more. So make sure to save for your 30-day travel period!
InterExchange is an American nonprofit organization working tirelessly to promote cross-cultural awareness and understanding through work placements, camps, and exchange programs. The Department of State designates InterExchange to sponsor the cultural exchange visa (J-1). At InterExchange, the programs we facilitate support our mission of promoting intercultural awareness, empowering participants with intercultural connections, and providing them with a lifelong connection to the international community.
